Welcome back Puffins! We hope you had a great holiday and are refreshed and ready for your final term in Puffins!
This term our topic is the Smashing Saxons! As Historians we will be using a variety of sources to explore who the Saxons were and where they came from. We will be evaluating the reliability of different sources as we use them. As part of this we will be looking at Saxon art, music, legends and poetry including learning the story of Beowolf. To conclude our topic, we will collate everything that we have learnt to create a fact file and a 3D model of a Saxon settlement!
Alongside our topic learning, we will be starting learning groups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to help focus on certain areas of Maths and English.
Our science topic for term 6 will be ‘Light’. As scientists we will be investigating what we need in order to see objects both in a light and dark place. As part of this we will look at how light travels. We will also investigate shadows, looking at how these are formed and how we can alter the size and shape of them by changing the orientation of the object. Throughout this topic we will focus on practicing and applying the Scientific skill ‘recording findings’.
This term we will be having Up and Under PE on Thursdays with Mr Murphy. We will have a go at Athletics in order to develop our running, jumping and throwing skills. We will also be continuing to develop our FUNs PE to practice our agility, balance and coordination.
This term’s spellings will be taught in learning groups so look out for new spellings each Monday.
