Welcome to the Puffin class page!
This week, Puffins and Nightingales visited Swindon Steam Museum and were whizzed back in time to WWII! Take a peek at us being evacuated to the countryside and experiencing an air raid.
This term Puffins will be going back in time and finding out what life was like for children during WWII! In particular we will be using different sources of evidence to learn about life during the Blitz, the effects of the air raids and the causes of evacuation.
As writers we will be using our exciting WWII topic to look at a range of different genres including diary writing as evacuees, letter writing and newspaper reports. We will also continue to work on the skills required for our year group.
As mathematicians we will be continuing to develop our mental addition and subtraction skills before moving onto written methods. Later in the term, we will begin to look at multiplication and division facts. Please continue to practice your times tables at home as this will really help your multiplication and division facts!
Our Science topic this term will be Sound. As scientists we will be investigating how sounds are made, how the strength of a vibration can affect the volume of sound produced and how vibrations from sounds travel to the ear.
This term PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays. We will be having ‘Up and Under’ PE sessions with Mr Murphy in order to develop our hockey skills. Alongside this we will also be having weekly FUNs PE lessons to practice our agility, balance and coordination.
Keep your eyes peeled for photos of WW2 BANG! day where we looked at artifacts from the war and even tried some on!
