TERM 5

Welcome to Kingfishers’ Class Page.

We hope you had a lovely and restful Easter break!

Make sure you keep checking on this page and our Class Dojo for updates on what we’ve been getting up to!

This term, our topic is art focused.  We will start off looking at how to create portraits and then move on to the subject of how to make memories using art.   Take a look at our curriculum letter to find out more.

Links and documents can be found at the bottom of this page

This is an exciting and busy term for our year 6s.  They will be taking their SATs 12th-16th May and we will also be starting transition documentation for secondary school.  We will ensure all information will be sent out on Classdojo and text/email.  We will also be sending out information relating to our year 6 trip to Thorpe Park which is fast approaching!

Thank you for all your continuing support.

Ms Hull, Mrs Kay, Mrs Bennett, Mrs Stevens

Key information:

  • This term the children will be taught in learning groups for English and Maths for the first 3 weeks of the term.  These will take place during the morning Mon-Weds.  Where there is a Bank Holiday, additional learning group work will take place in class on Thursday morning.
  • PE will be on Monday afternoon (athletics) and Thursday afternoon (netball) when children can come into school in their PE kit.  Please can children wear a plain white t-shirt and navy/black shorts (no football strips please).  Although it is getting warmer, children may want to bring in additional clothing if it is colder.
  • Homework for this term will consist of English and Maths tasks.  Children should also be reading at least 3 times per week.  They will have a times table target and it will  be tested on a Friday.
  • Children will have weekly spellings which will be tested on a Monday with the next week’s spellings taught directly after.  Children’s spellings for this term can be found on the link below.
  • SATs booster groups will take place on Tuesday 22/4 (maths), Tues 29/4 (SPAG) and Tues 6/5 (Reading).  We have invited specific pupils to these groups, but all year 6 children are welcome provided parents have completed the on-line form sent out.
  • Please note, we have attached some helpful parent resources for SPAG and maths on the links below.  We find that by looking at a few questions a day, it helps the children’s confidence moving towards SATs week.
  • The amazing kitchen staff will be providing SATs breakfast for all year 6 children from Monday 12/5 – Thursday 15/5!  Details regarding the breakfast will be sent out early term 5.
  • The year 6 Thorpe Park trip will be taking place on Monday 19th May.  Details regarding the trip will be sent out in due course.
