Welcome to Puffins class!

This term our topic has a design technology ‘Juggling balls’. We will be designing and making juggling balls for children, with a focus on the key knowledge:

Staying safe when sewing.

Threading a needle.

Learning a basic running stitch and back stitich.

We will also be looking at the entire design process when designing and making our juggling balls.

Our previous topics have included:

In term 1, a history focus: Ancient Egypt. We found out about life in Ancient Egypt and how historians learn about the past.

In term 2, a DT focus: Light up Christmas cards. We designed and made our own Christmas cards with light up elements.

In term 3, a History focus: WW2. We found out about evacuation and had our trip to the REME museum.

In term 4, a geography focus: Bristol. We found out about key human and physical features of Bristol and where it is.

I am released to fulfil some of my leadership responsibilities on Wednesdays. You can still contact me via ClassDojo on those days and I am often on the gate!

All of our families are joined to our Class Dojo – make sure you keep checking on this for updates on what we’ve been getting up to!

Key information:

  • PE days will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays when children can come into school in their PE kit.  Please can children wear a plain white t-shirt and black/navy shorts (no football strips please) for PE.  When the weather is cold, children may also want to wear a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms too. Children should also have a coat in school if the weather requires one, which is likely to be every day at this time of year.
  • The children have a KIRFs target and these will be tested on a Friday.
  • Children also have weekly spellings.  These will be tested on a Tuesday.
  • Please try to read regularly at home, encouraging a love for reading and books (of all type and genre) creates strong learning foundations.
